It is widely accepted that between 1% – 5% of contract costs are attributed to the creation and consequences of defects, both within the construction phase and thereafter once the asset is put into operational use. We aim to equip clients to understand how they are doing, what they can do to improve performance and measure savings.
We are currently exploring methods and ways, with our members, of measuring the actual costs of defects, addressed by working with the supply side.
We are also supporting a study proposed by the Chartered Quality Institute. The objective of this study is to investigate the true cost of quality related issues, enabling clients to set clear expectations and targets with the supply side to improve performance.
